How No-Exam Burial Insurance Works
Traditional life insurance often requires a full medical exam — blood work, urine tests, sometimes even an EKG. That process can take weeks and often leads to denial for people with pre-existing conditions.
Burial insurance eliminates all of that. Instead of a medical exam, you answer a short set of yes/no health questions on the application. Based on your answers, the carrier determines your eligibility and rate. Most applicants are approved the same day — often within minutes.
Two Types of No-Exam Plans
Simplified Issue
You answer 5-12 simple health questions. No exam. If you pass the health questions, you get full coverage from day one at the lowest rates available. This is the best option for most people.
Guaranteed Acceptance
Zero health questions — everyone aged 45-85 is accepted. Includes a graded benefit period (2-3 years). Slightly higher rates. Best for people who have been declined elsewhere or have serious health conditions.
Common Conditions That Are Accepted
Many people assume they cannot get life insurance because of their health. With no-exam burial insurance, the following conditions are commonly accepted by one or more of our carrier partners:
Diabetes (Type 2)
Managed with oral medication or insulin. Most carriers accept stable diabetics at standard or slightly elevated rates.
COPD
Mild to moderate COPD is accepted by several carriers. Oxygen use may require a guaranteed acceptance plan.
Heart Disease
History of heart attack, bypass, or stents — accepted by select carriers if the event was 2+ years ago and condition is stable.
High Blood Pressure
Controlled hypertension is accepted by virtually all carriers at standard rates.
Cancer (in remission)
Many carriers accept applicants who have been cancer-free for 2+ years. Recent diagnosis may require guaranteed acceptance.
Stroke History
Accepted by select carriers if the stroke was 2+ years ago. Guaranteed acceptance available for recent events.

Why is no medical exam required?
Burial insurance coverage amounts ($5,000-$35,000) are small enough that carriers can assess risk through health questions alone. This keeps the process fast and simple while still offering competitive rates.
What health questions will I be asked?
Typical questions cover major conditions like cancer (in the last 2 years), organ transplants, oxygen use, nursing home residence, and AIDS/HIV. The exact questions vary by carrier, which is why we compare multiple carriers to find the one that best fits your health profile.
Can I get approved with diabetes?
Yes. Most carriers accept applicants with Type 2 diabetes, especially if it is managed with medication. Some carriers are more diabetes-friendly than others — a licensed agent can match you with the right one.
What if I have COPD or heart disease?
Many carriers accept applicants with COPD, heart disease, high blood pressure, and other chronic conditions. If your condition is stable and managed, you may qualify for standard rates. Guaranteed acceptance plans are also available with no health questions at all.
What is a guaranteed acceptance plan?
A guaranteed acceptance plan requires no health questions at all — everyone aged 45-85 is accepted. The tradeoff is a graded benefit period (typically 2-3 years) during which the full death benefit is not yet available. After the graded period, the full benefit applies. These plans cost slightly more than standard plans.
How long does approval take?
Most applicants are approved the same day they apply — often within minutes. There is no waiting for lab results or doctor reports because there is no medical exam.
